Erik Belgum’s work has aired around the world including radio features on ABC (Australia), BBC, CBC (Canada), and West Deutscher Rundfunk.  Most recently, he produced forty episodes of the “Evidence-Based Fiction Network (EBFN) Radio” for Wavefarm (WGXC) in New York.

American Book Review called him “[o]ne of the most prominent practitioners of the new radical short fiction,” following publication of Star Fiction in 1996.

He’s not really sure what happened after that until his Collected Stort Shories appeared in 2012 and his book Ether Sunday received the 2025 Kenneth Patchen Award for the Innovative Novel.  It will appear on JEF Books later this year.

His collection of plays, We’re moving on now to the next phase, was published in 2026 by BlackScat Books.

A speech pathologist by day, he charts the edges of speech and language found in autism, aphasia, brain injury, dementia, schizophrenia, and even dehydration.
